Thanks for visiting my site! These pages have been put together to give a summary of the work I do and the areas I specialise in.
By way of brief self-introduction, I’m originally from Ireland and worked for a number of technology and culture publications there before moving to the UK in 2000. Since then I’ve worked for a variety of publications across a number of fields - specialist consumer, mainstream and trade / business. I founded the GamesIndustry.biz trade website, and served as its editor for almost five years; I still contribute a widely-read opinion column to the site each week. I am a games columnist for The Times newspaper, and am regularly featured on BBC television and radio as a commentator on this exciting industry.
I have also worked as a consultant for a variety of clients across the videogames and media industries, providing product evaluations, market reports, copywriting and editing, and speaking to a variety of teams about how their businesses can engage with the important and rapidly growing interactive entertainment and digital media sectors.
Outside of work, I’m a keen follower of politics and current affairs, a lover of food and cooking, an enthusiastic but perhaps underwhelming student of the Japanese language, an aspiring photographer (all pictures on this site are my own) and, of course, a fanatical gamer.
If you’d like to see some of the major feature articles I’ve written over the years, check out my Portfolio page. You can find a feed of my (largely politics-focused) blog on this site, or read it in its original form at ChallengerAppears.com; alternatively, find me on various social networks and media sites on the links to the right.
If you’d like to offer me some work (which would, of course, be absolutely delightful), or think there’s something I could help you or your company with in any way, then get in touch via my Contact page.
